Ellery RAFW

Awwwwww!!! I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time away from this blog and feel the need to apologize for my outrageous neglect! Endeavouring to reconcile, I’m beginning to post a Rosemount Fashion week montage and what I can only describe as a feast for the eyes… Ellery – RAFW, Sharp shoulders, short skirts, and foil pants… Eat your heart out.

Glossy Tristan Blair's

I posted about a pair of Tristan Blair shoes waaaaaaaay back, but I never thought the brand would expand into such a remarkable array of fabulous glossy pumps.

I keep looking at the images from the Winter 09 lookbook in sheer desire, thinking I’ll die if I can’t my hands on EVERYTHING below.

The Pink Poodle

It’s a great day for Anna Plunkett from Australian label Romance was Born. A big huge massively enormous congrats, as Anna is the winner of the 2008 Pantene woman of the year awards!!

I usually would have scoffed at the idea of wearing a dress in the form of a pink poodle, but Anna looks so darn hot, the poodle has the thumbs up. Right on...

Cheap Cheap Cheap

It’s been waaaaaaaaaay too long. Viewing the Run For The Hills blog and finding an updated post has been like setting your peepers on the abominable snowman lately… oops.

My excuse is that I now have a new fashion wholesale/distribution/manufacturing position that requires more time than humanly possible, and I can’t go forgetting about my beautiful little store, Love Kavalier which needs some attention too.

Since I’m up-to-my-eyeballs in work , I might have to start blogging on Sundays from now on… So keep checking up on me, as you are soon to be in for weekend posts as long as your arm, and more entertaining that you can imagine.

Being summer, and needing some new sunnies, I thought I’d show you some shades that have me captivated… Le Specs. Nothing new here I know, but when sunglasses are $59.95 and are actually GOOD, I think it’s worth a mention. It’s summer, and you can have fifty pairs of Le Specs and still have some dollars in the bank. You can’t beat it.

Picture 26Picture 29Picture 30

And while I’m on the cheap. Mink Pink is also in the I-don’t-have-to-eat-two-minute-noodles-all-week bracket, and it’s fun, fashionable, and FABULOUS (so they do say so themselves). And the lookbook for Summer 08-09 is even styled back with some le specs. Outfit price: $129.95AUD with change. You wouldn’t even read about it.

Lovely Denim Knickers...

Picture 43 My friends are often complaining about the smallness of my denim shorts… yep, the ol’ denim undies I’m always rocking around in are nothing (or maybe something???) compared to the Ashish denim knickers seen on the catwalk at London Fashion Week. The ridiculous size of the shorts (Deep down I love them – but chances of looking good in them is minimal), is compensated with an extremely cute printed jumper. Who needs leg warmth when you have hearts and eyeballs to keep you toastie…

I’ll more than likely opt for the baggier version - and looking at these pics, I’ll be on my bike to the haberdashery and stocking up on iron transfers!

Luella London Fashion Week... arrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

Picture 38 I’m absolutely screaming with delight, because I’ve FINALLY sorted out the glitches with my typepad account (by glitches, I mean maxed out credit card!!). Re-financing couldn’t have come at a better time, because I’ve managed to scrape in a few posts from London Fashion Week.

I’ve fallen over myself looking at the new Luella Spring/Summer 09 collection. It’s like getting lost in your grandma’s wardrobe, with a hint of a spring garden wedding ..… only better!

Nolita + TV (the label not the telly)

Picture 1

Today I’ve been on the Nolita webstie, and just love love love the campaign! The batwing dress reminds me of Australian label TV. Unfortunately i can't find the website (it may indeed not exist), however, this bird-like dress is one of my all-time fave’s for spring (it's a little hard to see here - but the concept is certainly the same...). A little theatrical, but still so darn wearable.

Tv0311_slideshowMain

Not only have I got the bird-dress on my mind, I’ve also realised that the TV fringed dress is set for delivery! My love for shoulder detailing, and dip dying has been bundled up into one splendid little dress…

Tv0031_slideshowMain

But if you can’t take anymore fringing then maybe the remaining pieces in the collection will be begging you to give then good homes…

Although, perhaps pastel green hair, and see-through body stocking with attached merkin is more your thing...

Rare...

Still a bit obsessed with Blazers… probably even more-so now that spring is on it’s way and my opportunities of wearing heavy jackets are dwindling as the days go by. Usually I’m all about the Oz labels, but today I’ve been checking out Rare and the abundance of military and horsey-horsey inspired jacketing. Not usually a fan of beige jodhpur style pants (Who can wear these…????), but I can’t seem to drag my eyes away from the masculinity of them. I find the androgyny of it more than appealing!

Rennie Ellis. No Standing Only Dancing

Today’s post is a tribute to Australian photographer Rennie Ellis: A renowned and influential photographer of Australian culture throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Although his photographic work is vast, my interests lie in his fashion archives, picturing designer works of the decade, including Alannah Hill, Jenny Banister, and Taylor Wu. The Rennie exhibition, 'No Standing Only Dancing', is in Melbourne’s Federation Square, the Ian Potter Centre NGV from the 31st of Oct 08 to 22 Feb 09.

Sunday morning shoes...

It’s a lazy Sunday and I’m in a shoe-buying mood. I’ve been waiting (impatiently) for the Shakuhachi woven flats to appear in store, however I’m trying to force myself to stop thinking about them (since they’re not delivered for another month) by finding a few others to tickle my fancy (somehow I’ve managed to find ALL black – with a minor floral exception).

High Summer: This is Genevieve

Picture 19 Not a fan of High Summer orders this year. Not sure how it works elsewhere in the world, but high/second summer is selling in Australia right now (scheduled for November delivery) and it’s a major disappointment. It’s been a bit of a lack-lustre season with focus on ‘easy-sell’ and ‘money making’ as opposed to setting new benchmarks in the industry. All I’ve seen is repetitive styles, repeated fabrics, boring models, and thoughtless styling.

Even though I’m having a whinge, I can’t blame Australian designers for putting together half-arsed collections (excuse the language) – it’s a cut-throat business and I understand the importance of generating a bit of cash to fund production and sample-making for following seasons. But from a consumer perspective it’s a shame.

HOWEVER.

One label that I want to keep on my radar is ‘This is Genevieve’. It’s the only second summer collection that I’m actually looking forward to ordering.

Pretty clothes to look at, and my whinging is over...

I'm back with State of Georgia...

I’m back! Firstly I’d like to apologise for the lack of posts over… geeeez I don’t know how long it’s been…? (My lack of daily posting has sent me into a time warp - no recollection of date or time). Sorry for all who missed my yarns, but technology got the better of me and resulted in my abrupt departure from Run For The Hills.

But I’m back, with stockpiles (if you can call them that) of new fashion goodies…!

Firstly, I just located the lookbook shots for State of Georgia’s summer delivery. I know I’ve touched on this label briefly (in my prints Vs monochrome rant), but I thought I’d have another quick peek at the lookbook and I think I’m a bit lovie lovie with it now. I was uncertain of the range at first, and I don’t reeeee-ally like the way it’s been styled, but I’m finding myself drawn to particular pieces - can’t stop looking at them and certainly can’t stop lusting after them.

Picture 5Picture 9 Picture 4

Picture 10 And every season Georgia designs a wonderful pair of shoes that I simply cannot live without (look left).

This year, it’s the tan suede cowboy heels…! I’m adding them to the want-list (might just throw in a black pair too…)

Shorts n Hot Water Bottles don't mix... Thankfully, there's The Cassette Society!

This morning I woke up with hot-water-bottle burn on my leg. Last night I learnt a very good lesson…

Don’t wear shorts to bed in winter (where was Toddy when I needed him)! Even worse than wearing short-y shorts is realising the effects of scolding hot water on bare legs.

I’m thinking I’m over winter…

TCSskies7 The silver lining in this situation however, is that summer deliveries are starting soon. End of July it’s still freezing, but I’ll be rolling around in new summer goods, given that I don’t burn my legs off in the middle of the night!

The Cassette Society scheduled for delivery at the end of July... Inspired by non-other than the best of summer skies… And easily layerable until the heat kicks in…

The cutest florals ever....

LOVE LOVE LOVE floral, and the new ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ vintage-inspired and excessively floral range titled ‘Wonder Years’. Worn-looking floral jersey dresses in red and blue rose, along with the cutest high waisted calotte shorts I’ve seen since 1990! Firstly I’m glad to see figure-flattering calottes making a re-appearance for Summer 09, and I’m hoping to see more calotte-style shorts made from an abundance of floaty fabrics.

AS for right now… ‘Love thy neighbour’ has me digging deep into my childhood and reminiscing of the TV series ‘The Wonder Years’, whistling away Joe Cocker’s cover of the Beatles song ‘With a little help from my friends’…

Who doesn't love 'Lover' the label? Say that ten times...

Lover Lover’s new collection is titled ‘Love Bomb’, and has just blown me away (sorry, I couldn’t help myself). Staying true to the usual Lover aesthetic with white lace, high-waisted shapes, and a muted colour palette, the new range is to-die-for. Loving the monochromatic floral print and the earth-toned shorts.

It’s such a rarity to see pics for yet-to-be-released collections on designer websites, so I suggest heading to the Lover site and having a gander at what will be in store from September this year. Also check the blog – A great read, and great way to kill some time!

Bec & Bridge

Given my fairly recent lusting for lace, I’m surprised I haven’t previously written about Bec & Bridge and their new season lace wonders. Of course it takes the new Russh mag and a picture of the Bec & Bridge lace bodysuit to trigger just how forgetful I am. I know this is a likely excuse, but I’ve been meaning to blog about this label for quite some time… Hence, the lookbook is no longer lost to the dark corners of my computer (only to be forgotten for all of eternity), but is now being used as delicious eye candy for those of us who are lovers of lace…

Now I may be making this up (I only heard it on a whisper), but I’ve been under the impression that the lookbook and fashion parade (for Summer 09) was styled by Kim Ellery of Ellery. Of course I don’t want to start viscous rumours, but from the looks of things, the new range definitely has a certain cult-label status to it that was lacking in previous seasons.

Dreaming of Los Angeles & Whitehorse Couture

I’ve been a little slack on the posts lately… (I don’t even have an excuse, just the laziest person on earth right now). Weirdest thing is that it’s Friday night and I have the insane urge to bang away at my keyboard instead of facing the real world. Yes, I should be twirling around, but when the flat-mate is partying away in Los Angeles, the idea of stepping out seems (ahem) boring!

My teleporting attempts to the West Coast have been futile, so as an alternative I’ve been searching around for a little L.A label love to get me through the night. And I’ve fallen for L.A label ‘Whitehorse Couture’, based on hope, hippy ideals and happy endings…

In love with the Rose printed tee’s, and fringed hemlines… The 70s themed photoshoot has me dreaming of packing it all in and tucking away in a camper with my guitar and idealistic dreams of peace…

Snuggling up with Toddy x

It’s not often that I would write about pyjamas. (Ummmm) Actually… Never! But when I saw these Toddy long johns I simply couldn’t resist. They are so darn cute, I’m longing for some winter snuggles in a tartan onesie. Oh, and there’s a bonus, online shopping and shipping! Check out the website, it’s toooo adorable…

"When the temperature drops and bedtime looms, out come the most fearsome of ghouls. Lurking about with their bed bug pals, chilly night-time monsters love to give kids hell! Luckily for some there’s salvation in sight, for Toddy is here to guard you by night! Comfy and cosy in your own Toddy suit, clever Toddy Kids can give bed bugs the boot!" Toddy

My first delve into Lace...

What a rug Enough said. The Cassette Society Lace Leggings, and my fabulous shag-pile rug in the background…

Tie Dye

Gen1 It’s the whole wandering-nomad-hippie aspect that always attracts me to tie dye. And although I’ve seen drips of hand-dying through winter 08, many Australian designers have recognised the trend and embraced it for Summer 08/09.

‘This is Genevieve’ designer Genevieve Er has perfectly mixed purple dip-dyed skirts, and orange and navy tie dyed shifts into her third collection, ‘She dreams in Fables’. Slightly reminiscing about the Wizard of Oz right now…
